Level 0 - Design Intent

The first step in creating your amazing concept

Every engineering project starts with intent.

Level 0 captures it.

Level 0 transforms an early product idea into a structured, reviewable design baseline.

It identifies the product purpose, operating environment, constraints, assumptions and unanswered questions before any BOM, material selection or CAD modelling begins.

By locking the design intent first, Proximas AI creates a cleaner pathway from concept to architecture, from architecture to BOM, and from BOM to manufacturable digital output.

Level 0 acts as the front-end reasoning and requirements capture layer for the wider Proximas workflow.

It takes unstructured user input and generates:

  • Product purpose and operating context

  • Key functional requirements

  • Initial assumptions

  • Feasibility notes

  • Clarification questions

  • Risk areas

  • Design constraints

  • A locked design-intent baseline

Once reviewed and confirmed, this baseline becomes the controlled input

for Level 1, where the concept is converted into a system architecture.

Why Level 0 Matters

Most automated engineering systems fail because they move too quickly from a vague idea into a technical output.

Level 0 is designed to prevent that.

Before Proximas AI generates assemblies, BOM structures, materials, CAD models or supplier data, Level 0 establishes the why, what, and boundary conditions of the product.

This reduces poor assumptions, improves traceability, and creates a more stable foundation for automated engineering decisions.

Core Capabilities

Design Intent Capture
Level 0 converts rough ideas into structured engineering intent. It identifies what the product needs to achieve, the environment it will operate in, and the practical constraints that shape the design.

Assumption Management
The system separates confirmed facts from assumptions. This allows the user to review, accept, reject or refine assumptions before the design moves forward.

Clarification Loop
Where information is missing, Level 0 generates targeted questions. These help close gaps before the product architecture is created.

Revision-Controlled Baseline
Each Level 0 output can be refined and versioned. Once confirmed, the design intent can be locked as a controlled baseline for the next stage.

Downstream Readiness
Level 0 prepares the data required for Level 1, Proxima B, PMI and Proxima C by ensuring the design direction is clear before technical decomposition begins.

Process Flow

Idea Input
The user describes the product, purpose, requirements and any known constraints.

AI Interpretation
Level 0 analyses the input and extracts the design intent, assumptions, risks and missing information.

Refinement
The user answers clarification questions or adjusts the interpretation.

Baseline Creation
A structured design-intent package is generated.

Lock and Transfer
Once approved, the baseline is passed into Level 1 for architecture and system breakdown.
